PHILOSOPHY

Hollywood agents, casting directors, and even  corporate executives are increasingly turning  to the Internet for instant access to color  digital photos. This revolutionary marketing  process requires a photographer who has not  only mastered the new technology but is also  able to infuse their work with the age-old  creative artistry which illuminates both the  client’s outer appearance as well as their inner essence.

Actors are especially aware that color digital headshots are electronic calling cards; the first impression that rouses the interest of a potential employer before an actual meeting or audition. Hence the need for a savvy photographer who can simultaneously convey the subject’s physical appearance and confidence, plus those all-important expressions and quirks which distinguish one face from scores of others

The open Hollywood secret is that whenever an actor’s magnetism can be captured in a headshot it will generally translate favorably to stage or screen. And the role of a good photographer is to quietly catch their subject’s charisma in a relaxed moment of animation that reveals their individual attitude and likeableness. Since no two personalities or viewpoints are identical, close attention to even the minutest details of lighting, background, attire and makeup is mandatory.

All successful photo shoots are a collaborative effort, which demands each session be specifically designed to cover the particular needs that will best advance the client’s career.  Once those goals are clearly defined, a competent photographer’s sole aim is to compile a wide variety of visual options to choose from.

My overall photo philosophy is obvious: If you don’t look great then neither do I. Occasionally a bit of retouching or color tweaking is necessary to perfect the finished product, but after more than a decade and a half of professional photography, I’ve learned that too much artificial enhancement is a turn off.

My primary purpose, of course, is to deliver headshots which will veritably leap from the computer or a printed resume and help you land the right role or job. This is largely accomplished by a compelling photograph that subtly reflects your entire persona: face, body, character, and soul. A few friendly smiles also help, but I’ll draw those out of you, too… free of charge!
